Rustic Modular Cabins – Built the Traditional Way

Our Big Bertha and similar rustic modular cabins are handcrafted entirely from solid 4x6 Southern Yellow Pine timber, with authentic chinking between each log to ensure a tight seal and maximum energy efficiency. These cabins are built by Old Order Amish craftsmen, known for their dedication to traditional building methods and quality.

These cabins are ideal for folks who appreciate a true rustic aesthetic—where the timber walls aren’t just for looks. Thanks to the thermal mass of solid wood, the walls themselves serve as insulation, offering an approximate R-12 insulation rating.

If you live in a colder climate and plan to use the cabin year-round, we recommend additional steps for optimal comfort:

  • Closed-cell spray foam insulation in the subfloor to prevent heat loss

  • R-19 or higher insulation in the ceiling to retain heat in winter and block heat in summer

  • A well-designed heating and cooling system appropriate for your climate

The floors are made from real Southern Yellow Pine, giving them a warm, natural look and feel—soft underfoot and full of character. We use double-pane insulated windows and steel exterior doors to help regulate temperature and keep wildlife (yes, even bears!) safely outside.

These all-wood modular cabins are popular not only for personal use but also with investors looking to generate rental income. They make excellent Airbnb rentals, guest cabins, or vacation homes, especially for landowners looking to monetize their property.
